The essence of spring is something I long, all year round. I made a promise to myself that I would try to preserve spring as very best I can this year. Whether it be through photography, drying flowers, recipes and most of all, experiments.
Lilacs are one of my absolute favorites. Growing up, we had a large lilac bush at our house in Rosemont. My mother would leave a pair of pruning sheers for who ever wanted to take some home on the way past our house. Now, at my home that my partner and I bought December of 2019, our property came with a few very lovely lilac bushes. TWO colours purple & white!!
I ended up doing a couple different things with the lilac flowers. But let’s start with the most simple, yet lovely “recipe”.
So besides the obvious, I would reccomend giving your lilacs a shake before bringing them inside. The earwigs seem to love hanging out in them. And a good rinse before adding them to your water. Pick your lilacs somewhere that is not near a road/polluted area.
I let my lilac water soak overnight. It is such a subtle, delicate, floral taste.bit is absolutely LOVELY.
1 cup of lilac flowers (no stem)
8 cups of water (or really however much you want, it is a very faint flavor so it will be hard to over do!)
Give a good shake & let sit over night. ♡

1 pot of water
1 chicken carcass
3 bay leaves
5 sage leaves
2 sprigs of rosemary
1 can tomato paste
2 -3 cups of Chicken or Sausage
3 stalks of celery
2 -3 hand fulls of kale
4 cloves of garlic
1/2 can of black beans or kidney beans
more salt! jk, taste it first
I just throw every thing in together once the broth is done (i usually boil for a couple of hours) strain the content out of the broth. Add your soup ingredients to the broth and then once the carrots are tender to your liking I turn off the heat. Happy souping!
Whilst down in Granville Islands at the Market, as there are way too many things to choose from which becomes very overwhelming, we decided to pick up a couple tarts before heading back to our hotel.
I didn’t try the key lime tart because I am not much of a sweet tooth myself, however I did try the blueberry tart and it wasn’t overly sweet and had a really nice texture to it. I think the presentation of the tart’s honestly speak for themselves! Delicious.
So i’ve decided since i’m going to be posting lots of food pictures i’m going to make its own page because it would just.. make.. thing more interesting perhaps?
PS- i know i said i was trying not to eat wheat but my boyfriend just came to me and served my sandwich in a silly character so i couldn’t say no.
1 small chicken
1/4 of a very large yam
1 fat carrot that resembled a dick
1/4 of a slightly going off cabbage
1 large russet potatoe
