Exploring the Yukon

In early June my boyfriend and I went to visit family up in the Yukon where he is from. We did some exploring and lots of canoeing at a bunch of the different lakes up North. Here’s a little blip into our adventures! Hope you’re all enjoying your summer!

A few moments with T. Lane Design

A couple months back I did a jewelry lookbook photoshoot with the talented T. Lane Design. She is such a fantastic artist and beautiful soul, I was able to do a short interview with her!

How would you describe yourself?

I am really bad at describing myself and try never to put labels on myself or anyone else. I guess I am determined to surprise people. I like a bit of mystery and hope that transfers to my work.

Who has influenced you the most?

I am influenced by the people I keep close to me and also, lately, Walt Whitman and Tom Robbins.

What inspired you to get into fashion & jewelry design?

Since I was very young I’ve been interested and inclined toward fashion and design. I have always been inspired to bring out the beauty of an individual. It’s like unveiling a mystery.

What’s one thing you’re most proud of?

In life, the thing I’m most proud of is my daughter. But in business, I’m most proud of not selling out. My work is ethical, handcrafted and completely one of a kind. Each piece is a work of art, just like the humans they are created for.

Where and with whom do we find you on a Saturday night?

Well, this past Saturday, I was at my place with my closies making amazing food, indulging in a good red wine, practicing my billiards and playing dress up in my upstairs vintage shop.

Happy new year friends! I want to start off by thanking everyone for their ongoing support of my artwork, website, youtube ect! You’ve all made it really worth my time and I thank you and appreciate that.

I’ve never been one to sit down and write my resolutions down. I’m really not even the type who’s ever HAD resolution besides “get published” haha. (which hasn’t really happened yet).

Resolutions… Resolutions… Resolutions…

Things that need to stop.

  1. Stop letting people take advantage of me. – Write up a contract for my clients so I am paid for the work I do for them.
  2. Stand up for myself. Stop saying yes to everyone. – Think about what the situation is doing for myself rather than worrying about situations benefiting everyone else.
  3. Stop wasting time on people who don’t deserve it. – Stick to friendships and relationships that have mutual respect.

Things i’d like to start.

  1. I’d like to try and do 1 interview a month because it seems to bring the most attention to my website and photography.
  2. I’d like to start sewing. I have a couple bags of fabrics and old clothes i’d like to play around with and alter.
  3. I’d like to start playing more on my wacom tablet doing portrait illustrations.

I think having 3 of each is a nice balance for now. These are things I have thought a lot throughout 2016 and need to just get a move on with it.

Once again, thank you for reading! Have a beautiful 2017 friends!

☯ ♢ Happy New Years Eve Day! ♢ ☯

Good Morning 2016! I have a lot that I am proud of this year, however I am also very ready for my fresh start in 2017.  There is a lot i’d like to accomplish this year, just like everyone else. A big one for me is self respect and not letting people take advantage me. I’ve done a lot for people in the past and eventually people just stop putting in effort, stop giving back… they become selfish and ignorant. Which upsets me, but then I have to remind myself to only keep the relationships/friendships with mutual respect. Respect Yo’self. 😉 But don’t forget about the people who respect and do a lot for you! I’ll be creating a resolutions post tomorrow to get more in depth because this is actually my first year with real goals/resolutions.

❆ I believe in myself. ❆

Below I have some photo’s I took of my roommate and close friend Jess Brown. You may have seen her on my site before & her friend Lindsay, they are both burlesque dancers based in Nelson, BC. ❆

[I’ll upload the high res photo’s when i get home to my other computer!]

I hope what ever you have planned for tonight you are spending it with people who love and care about you! May your new year be full of bright smiles and positive energy ♡

What do you dream about?

I constantly dream about the future, what is next for me in life, where I want to be, how I’m going to get there. Sometimes I dream about the future so much, I have to remind myself to come back down to earth.

Best thing to do on a rainy day?

Most rainy days you would probably find me in my bedroom.. blasting tunes, scribbling in notebooks, doing yoga, watching youtube videos of burlesque dancers from around the world, drinking herbal tea & smoking doobies.

The most important thing in life?

It’s the little things in life that really make me smile, silly inside jokes that don’t make sense, an awesome new song that you just can’t stop rocking out too, an outfit that makes you feel really beautiful, a good hair day, when the sun is shining, birds chirping, rainbows, unicorns, You get the point. I believe in seeing the beauty in everything and taking time to smell the god damn roses!

What’s one thing you’re most proud of?

I’m really proud of myself. I started moving around at 18 and I’ve lived in several cities across the country and I’ve done it all on my own. There have been plenty of bumps in the road but I’ve never been afraid to put myself out there and go for what I really want. I think that is something to be proud of.

What’s one thing would you change about our society?

I can’t pick just one thing and I’m having a hard time answering without writing an essay! I just really wish we could get along and respect each other. You may say I’m a dreamer…

What do you think about first thing in the morning?

I have an incredible view of Elephant mountain from my bedroom so every morning I wake up, I have a good look out my window, smile, remind myself how grateful I am for so much then make a mental note of what the weather looks like so I can dress accordingly.
